Why translate songs from the 2002 musical film Yes Nurse, No Nurse into English? For starters, it's an awesome topic for an MA thesis. On a more serious note, it gave me the chance to explore the influence that audience expectations have on the process of translation. You see, the constraints that audience expectations impose on anyone working from one language to another is something that I deal with on a daily basis as an English translator and copywriter working in the Netherlands.
